GRANBY – Granby Police officials are asking for the public’s assistance in the search of a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at Vicker’s Liquors on Saturday, April 21 just after 9:30 p.m.
Police have released a picture of a sweatshirt that was left inside the store during the suspect’s escape. The sweatshirt is described as being green and off-white. The suspect is described as being a thin white male in his late teens, approximately 5’7” tall with crew cut style short brown hair.
According to Police Chief Alan Wishart, on Saturday, April 21 at approximately 9:35 p.m. Granby Police officers responded to an armed robbery call at Vicker’s Liquors located at 367 East State St. Officers arrived within three minutes of the call and spoke with the store employee, who explained that a white male in his late teens had entered the store and assaulted her.
“The suspect demanded money while holding a hard object against the victim’s back,” said the chief.
The male fled from the scene on foot with cash from the register.
The chief said there was a search for the suspect in the area by officers and K-9 officer Ralph, which was unsuccessful. During the suspect’s escape from the store, he inadvertently left a green and off-white sweatshirt inside the store. The suspect left with an undetermined amount of cash from the register.
The suspect was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and dark baggy pants, according to police. It is unknown if a vehicle was used in the crime. The sweatshirt that was left at the scene by the suspect is a green and off-white ENYCE brand sweatshirt with an elaborate print.
Anyone with information about the crime or about the possible owner of the sweatshirt is asked to call the Granby Police Department at 413-467-9222.
